East Grand Rapids General Information
East Grand Rapids is located on the east side of Grand Rapids in Kent County, Michigan. It was first settled in the early 1830’s by the Reed Family from New York State and is one of the oldest suburbs in Kent County.
An affluent suburb, the primary geography is residential homes and there is a business district containing all the essential services, a selection of specialty stores and boutiques. Spectrum Health’s East Campus is a world-class hospital and can also be found within the borders.
One of East Grand Rapids’ popular destinations is Reed’s Lake and Gaslight Village. Reed’s lake is home to the Grand Rapids Yacht Club which offers sailing lessons for young and old, excellent fishing and John Collins Park.
East Grand Rapids is known for its excellent schools, well-kept executive homes and unparalleled municipal services. You can enjoy pleasant walks along mature, tree-lined streets, take the family for a picnic at the various parks or stroll through Gaslight Village and take in the sights. John Collins park is located between the GR Yacht Club and Rose’s Restaurant. Situated on 2.7 acres and features a boat launch accessing Reeds Lake.
WATERFRONT/GILLMORE NATURE AREA: (522 Lakeside Dr)
Reeds Lake trail meanders through this lovely woodlands and wetland area. The Waterfront/Gilmore area features plenty of opportunities to birdwatch, fish or just take a stroll along the scenic trails.
