History of Heritage Hill
Heritage Hill was Grand Rapids’ original prestigious residential neighborhood. The homes were built by the city’s influential teachers, judges, legislators, and lumber barons who helped shape Grand Rapids’ future. In 1968, the Heritage Hill Association was formed to preserve this historic community. Five years later, in 1973, it officially became Grand Rapids’ first Historic District. Today it remains a vibrant, secure, and stable neighborhood where people live, work, and take great pride in preserving its architectural heritage.
